V1.0.2 - More bug fixes
Version 1.0.2 - Bug fixes
First and foremost, the bugs
Here are the bugs that were fixed:
- Fixed the UI not showing from the start.
- Fixed some materials appearing purple.
- Fixed a bug where pressing pause wouldn't exit the combination puzzle UI.
- Optimized textures and materials for objects.
- Generated a new lightmap and discarded the old one as it drew weird lines on some textures.
Now, let's talk a little
Hello there! This is the second update I have for this game. It's mostly fixing bugs and optimizing the game. Some bugs occurred after fiddling with the localization settings, making UI elements not appear. I also optimized texture sizes to make the download size more reasonable and correlate better with content quantity. I'm sorry for the 10-20 minutes of playtime while taking up 1.4Gb of space and the 700+Mb download.
Honestly, I'm happy with how the game turned out as of this version. This was originally a homework assignment I decided to push to a full release, so truthfully, this version should have been 1.0.0 in a normal scenario. However! I don't plan on leaving the game as it is yet! I want to do a few things:
- Add more content to the game: I plan to add a few more puzzles, maybe 3 or 4 so that the game has longer playtime for around 400 Mb uncompressed.
- Write up a simple story for the game: While the story section writes about how you've been left alone in this mansion with something lurking, it doesn't give you much context on what is happening. Which is why I want to write a simple story and introduce the player to it. Also, the game doesn't have an ending, which I realized is not satisfying for a full release so I plan to write one with the story.
- Modify some of the puzzles: I realized one of the puzzles could be randomized which would make the puzzle a bit more interesting, also the delivery of some puzzle instructions could be more cryptic, making the game harder.
Thanks to all of you who found my game and took the time to play it. I will release more games, so stick around if you'd like.
With all that said, I hope you all had a nice year, and I pray for your success in this one!
